Decorative lighting is the last type of kitchen lighting. It brings about a sparkle to your kitchen and adds a sense of enthusiasm. But you should be very careful with it because if overdone it can make your kitchen look disorganized. It‘s a wise decision to seek advice from a lighting designer before starting to remodel your kitchen. Because a lighting designer will look carefully at the kitchen‘s layout, as well as other aspects of the design like natural light, height of the ceiling and the finishing of the surfaces. This helps the designer to find out how much light will be needed for that particular amount of space.
Traffic: The kitchen should not be perceived as an island; it needs contact with the outside world that is accomplished by car. You can have the adjoining room used a garage attached to the kitchen or have the back door lead to the driveway, so you do not go through much hassle bringing in your groceries or taking out your trash. You can also have a mud room minimize the traffic within your kitchen since it acts as a staging area for trips out of and into the house. It creates storage for coats, boots, and hats, buffer from cold air, or you can put pantry shelves to hold items that are not meant for immediate use. Once all this activity is redirected from your kitchen, you will have more space for eating and cooking.
The Work Triangle or The Work Area: One of the most important aspects of any fitted kitchen and its also one of the areas of planning that must involve the input of the cook or chef. There are three main appliances that will determine this area and these are, the cooker, the fridge and the sink or waste area. You may well ask why, well these when you think about it are the three most used places in any kitchen. If any of these areas are too far away from each other it can make using the kitchen to its full potential difficult. So the work area or the work triangle should be given the attention it deserves before proceeding to the other areas of choosing your kitchen, and that is your first fitted kitchen tip.
The cost to remodel kitchens and built in cupboards will depend on the materials you use as well as what hardware and worktops you put in. Drawers, hardware and countertops is one of the things that push up the cost of a kitchen. If you want to save money you can place big wall cabinets and base cabinets in the kitchen and instead of using granite you can fit the kitchen with formica countertops. Most people would like to have granite in their kitchen but don‘t always have the budget for it. One thing you can do is to fit your kitchen with formica countertops and spend the bulk of your money on the kitchen. This way you will be able to place more drawers and better hardware in the kitchen. This will not only make your kitchen look better but more practical and functional.
